NCE & IDFA INTERNATIONAL MASTERCLASS: CHRIS KING, ACE
On Saturday, November 17, the NCE and IDFA hosted a special International Masterclass with British film editor Chris King, ACE.
In a sold-out auditorium in Theater Brakke Grond in Amsterdam, Annelotte Medema joined Chris King on stage in a conversation about editing. Chris’ speciality is editing documentaries that consist mainly of archival footage, which he manages to construct in ways that make the resulting films feel as if they had been scripted all along.
King has cut internationally acclaimed documentaries such as AMY (Academy Award for Best Documentary, 2016), SENNA (BAFTA for Best Editing, 2012) and Exit Through the Giftshop (nominated for an Academy Award and winner of the ACE Eddie Award for Best Edited Documentary, 2011), and he is currently working on a documentary about soccer legend Diego Maradona.
Following the masterclass, there was ample opportunity for everybody to mingle and to talk to Chris during the NCE-hosted lunch. We’re very happy that Chris joined us to share his knowledge during this masterclass, and we’re looking back on a wonderful and inspiring afternoon.
